Since the launch of the fourth campaign, recently appointed game master Brennan Mulligan has maintained audience suspense with extensive world-building, a wide array of heroes, and a thrilling plot featuring divine entities, fiends, and malevolent powers growing in strength within Dol-Makjar.
Warning: Key plot points for the latest installment of Campaign 4 lie ahead.
The Soldiers Table Revealed
The latest chapter finished on a huge suspense moment and presented the first table of heroes who will separate from the primary party to begin their separate journey, separate from the remaining groups.
The Soldiers table includes Teor Pridesire (brought to life by the voice actor), Thimble (Laura), the strong-willed figure (Whitney Moore), Wicander (the player), and Kattigan Vale (Robbie).
The Reason for Division
Considering an extensive roster, it was obvious from the start that having everyone at a single group would be unfeasible.
This explains, the first four episodes of this story serve as an Overture, weaving together the personal journeys before branching into three separate parties: Warriors, Strategists, and Explorers.
What Defines the Combat Party
Per the DM, the combat-focused party is for adventurers who prefer a typically action-packed battle-oriented story mode where peaceful solutions are scarce.
At first glance, characters like the reluctant priest Wicander Halovar might appear mismatched, but the events of episode 3 demonstrate why these specific adventurers are perfectly fit for the combat party.
Why They Must Go
To begin with, the team knows exactly where to proceed after a violent first encounter with the antagonists.
A former ally of Thjazi—whose death initiated the campaign’s events—exploited the foes for his own means, entering Thjazi’s hideout, attacking Thimble, and stealing all the powerful objects to dispose of.
The traitor then settled his obligations and fled to a Halovar stronghouse in the remote area, beyond the urban center, with Cyd Pridesire pursuing him.
Character Drivers
Moreover, each member has a specific drive to exit Dol-Makjar:
- Thimble, as the companion and best friend, desires retribution.
- Kattigan knows the region and cautions that it is a nasty environment.
- The strong character and The cleric, having resisted his house’s orders to execute the fighter and instead rescued him, have no other options.
- However, their reputation as important members in House Halovar could enable the team reach places they normally couldn’t.
- Additionally, The fighter vowed a life debt to The savior for his rescue and will now follow him anywhere.
Pursued by Authorities
In addition, all of them are hunted by the authorities that rule the setting for a range of causes, making lingering locally too risky:
- The rogue and Kattigan are recognized lawbreakers.
- The warrior and The healer defied the influential house and the legion of demons they are partnered with.
- The target is marked for death by House Halovar.
This results in them few options but to head to the remote area in pursuit of the antagonist.
Upcoming Developments
Based on episode three’s Cooldown, we find out that the Soldiers table will be absent next week, leaving the remaining eight players to round up the Seekers and Strategists tables.
Fans can expect discovering which players will be in which group in the story’s final introductory chapter, released on the upcoming Thursday.
